  • Monthly luncheon meetings are held on the first Wednesday of each month. Our next luncheon meeting is September 6, 11:30am at The Pacific Club. Meetings are not held during summer (June, July, August). In December, the luncheon meeting is replaced by a fabulous holiday party. Throughout the year, various outings (Delectable Detours) offer opportunities to collectively enjoy and support  restaurants, plays, concerts, and other cultural events in our community. Every odd-numbered year we hold an art show. Every even-numbered year, Pen Women organize and sponsor a writers' conference in April, and also a writing competition.

It is with great sadness that we announce the deaths of two beloved Friends of the Pen Women.

Roger Couture, beloved spouse of Darlene Weingand with whom he attended our monthly meetings, passed away the end of July. A faithful  supporter of the Pen Women, he will be sorely missed by all who knew him. A Requiem Mass will be held at St. Mark's Episcopal Church on Kapahulu in Waikiki on August 12 at 10am. A rosary will precede the Mass at 9:30 and a social hour will take place afterward in the church hall.

Norma Wunderlich Gorst, former Friend and a respected local poet, passed away at her home in Kailua on July 29. Many of you will remember Norma as a quiet, gentle and elegant lady who often graced our May meetings with readings of her poetry. A Memorial Service will take place at St. John's Lutheran Church, 1004 Kailua Drive, on Saturday, August 5 at 10:30am

Our condolences go out to the families of both these fine Friends.
