JEFF GERE
presents
GET YOUR STORY UP & MOVING
Sure, you’ve written a Masterpiece, but reading it out loud FREAKS YOU OUT! Here’s some help with storyteller JEFF GERE. Jeff will open with 20ish minutes of immensely insightful remarks. Then, three of our chosen authors will each bravely read one of their five minute stories. Then Jeff will play with that author to add dynamics to her story. The GOAL: to move the words off the page, across the author’s lips, through her body, and to the mind’s eye of the listener in such a DYNAMIC way that the listener will never forget the tale. Watch carefully and gather input for our May Meeting, when our Members and Friends will be reading their work. The promise is for your presentation skills to be upgraded…. and it should be fun.
JEFF GERE incorporates his talents as painter, puppeteer, and mime into performances which have electrified audiences in Hawai'i for 30 years. Jeff's physical energy, morphing elastic face and voice characterizations make his shows events. Jeff becomes his stories!
Born on Halloween, Jeff has continued to perform ever since. He produced, hosted and performed in the Talk Story Festival, Hawai’i’s biggest storytelling celebration (26 years), Story TV (23 years monthly), Talk Story Radio (2 years weekly, Hawai'i Public Radio), story camps & conferences. He performed at the National Storytelling Festival (2010, Residency 2013) and in Spain, Hong Kong, Turkey, Vancouver & the Yukon before retiring from Oahu Parks Department. Following his retirement he continued to tour internationally, visiting Thailand, China, India, Japan, Australia, Taiwan, Java, Romania & Kenya. During Covid & after, he created local, national & international virtual events as performer & producer. He produced a Story Retreat (Kauai, 2023 & 24) and taught storytelling at UH Manoa. He’s got lots to see on YouTube. www.jeffgere.com
