Growing Trust & Compassion in Turbulent Times:
How HPR is Working to Meet the Moment
Hawai’i Public Radio is meeting the moment in these tumultuous times. Meredith Artley, President and CEO of HPR, will share how the team is working to fight polarization and isolation, serving the people of Hawai'i with helpful information and distinctive storytelling, powerful inspiration of music and the arts, and making connections that create compassion and strengthen communities.
Meredith Artley is the President and CEO of Hawai’i Public Radio, an essential service that informs, inspires, and connects Hawai’i on air, online, and in person across the islands.
Meredith leads a team that serves hundreds of thousands of people in Hawai'i via HPR-1, HPR-2, https://www.hawaiipublicradio.org/ and an expanding portfolio of digital products and events that bring people together. The HPR team includes committed journalists, on-air hosts with deep and varied expertise, and a range of dedicated community leaders who work with individuals, local businesses, and partners who help make HPR a success story in a challenging media landscape.
In recent months, Meredith and the team have spent a good deal of time working to communicate the range of threats to HPR and public media at large, making sure that HPR stays strong in the face of change and uncertainty.
Previously, Meredith led CNN as the Editor in Chief and SVP of CNN Digital Worldwide, she oversaw a global team of hundreds of reporters, producers and editors who created and distributed CNN’s journalism to more than 20 million people every day.
She left CNN in 2022 to move to Hawai’i, where she joined the Doris Duke Foundation to lead the Shangri La Museum as Interim Executive Director and also served as the Executive in Residence at the Doris Duke Foundation.
